Certified Practitioner Membership

Welcome to AOBTA®

About

Certified Practitioner (CP) membership in AOBTA® is awarded to those applicants who have successfully completed the training outlined in the AOBTA® 500 Hour Curriculum.

A Certified Practitioner member is a professional, voting member of the Organization.

Pathways for Certified Practitioner Membership:

  • National Certification as an NCCAOM Diplomate of ABT (U.S.) or STAO-CST (Canada)

  • Completion of the 500 Hour Curriculum in an AOBTA® COSP School or Program

  • Completion of the 500-Hour Curriculum taught by either an AOBTA® Certified Instructor, AOBTA® Registered Instructor, AOBTA® Certified Practitioner, or a non-AOBTA®affiliated apprenticeship program or school

  • Certified Practitioner candidates that did not complete their training at an AOBTA®COSP school or program, or with an AOBTA® instructor will have their application packet reviewed by the AOBTA® Peer Review Committee, which will determine the candidate's eligibility for membership

Annual membership dues are $125.

AOBTA® Certified Practitioners have the privilege of using the 
widely recognized and respected AOBTA®-CP credential after their name.

How to Apply
Step 1

Read the AOBTA® Code of Ethics | Every member is required read and agree to the Code of Ethics when applying for membership.

Step 2

Review the AOBTA® education and training standards for CP membership. It is important to take time to compare your training against the AOBTA 500 Hour Curriculum and use the AOBTA 500 Hour Transcript to make sure you meet the membership requirements. You may be asked to submit a completed 500 Hour Transcript with your application.

Step 3

Complete and submit the Certified Practitioner Membership Application along with the requested supporting documentation and the payment of the application fee and dues. Instructions are included in the application.

After You Complete These Steps...

... your application packet will be submitted to the Peer Review Committee to assess your eligibility for membership. The Peer Review Committee is comprised of volunteer Certified Instructors. Review may take up to 2 weeks and additional information or documentation may be requested at any time during the review.

Upon the committee's approval, the AOBTA® staff will make every effort to finalize your membership within a timely manner.

You will be contacted once your application has been accepted and a new member packet, including your membership certificate, will be mailed to you.
